Obituary

Lailita "Lita" Stubbs Bratt 11/10/1926 - 4/24/2013 She was the north star of our lives, her guidance never failed us. Our beloved mother and teacher, grand and great-grandmother died peacefully. She will be remembered with love and joy by all who knew her. Born in San Antonio, TX, she grew up there and in South America.

She received her degree in Art History from Cornell in NY where she met Maurice D. Bratt. They were married in San Antonio and moved to Dallas where all three of her children were born. The family moved to Tucson in 1966.

Here, Lita began teaching art at Palo Verde H.S. before moving to Sahuaro H.S. when it opened. She received her Master’s degree from the U of A and pursued her love of jewelry-making and ceramics.

While active at St. Francis in the Foothills, Lita and a friend began the Reading Seed program. "And still you come flying, Mom." Please join us in a celebration of her life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 3303 N. Bear Canyon Rd. 85749, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Donations may be made in Lita's memory to Reading Seed, Humane Society of So. AZ, and TMC Hospice.

Here is a summary of the things we did 

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th, 2011 

 

6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

 

We had a casual happy hour evening at The Old Pueblo Grille, with a cash bar, but to include appetizer food, photo displays, and name tags. We had time to visit and chat in a relaxed atmosphere!

 

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10th, 2011 

6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

We enjoyed a sit down dinner at the Reid Park Doubletree Hotel banquet room (with adjoining reception hall and patio, and cash bar), that includes a  full course meal, name tags, DJ, dance floor,  “Dancing Dan” line dancing , photo displays and reunion T-shirts, thanks to Dan Gaul. T-shirts were outstanding.

 

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th, 2011 

 

Sahuaro High School

 

11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

We met FIRST in the Sahuaro cafeteria!

A family-casual picnic at SAHUARO HIGH SCHOOL cafeteria, included kids, grandkids etc, Coolers, food, then we went to gyms and the Cougar Hall of fame and more!  Took  photos in courtyard and those photos we all missed years ago!
